Pamplin

Pamplin has a total of four separate mechanical rooms on the basement level. And they're all pretty cool to explore. The first mechanical room is to your left as you enter the atrium through the doors in the big glass wall. It's full of big ventilation equipment. Tucked away behind some of this equipment is a hole in the floor, surrounded by a steel railing. Climbing down into this hole, you find yourself in a low steam tunnel. The tunnel runs several hundred feet, to a mechanical room on the opposite end of Pamplin. Emerging from the short section of steam tunnel, you find yourself in the sub-basement level of a two-story mechanical room. Once again, more pipes and pumps. There's a door into a stairwell (the one near GBJ), and a ladder to the upper level of the mechanical room. The upper level has more ventilation equipment, and a door out into the basement-level hallway. Across the hall from here is another mechanical room, which is almost always locked. Its most interesting features are a gravel floor, and elevator access. Back in the atrium, there's a set of double doors into the fourth mechanical room. Actually, it's a series of rooms. Lots of pipes, AC equipment, and desks. Apparently there's a surplus of desks in Pamplin. This mechanical room also has crawlspace access, through two ladders up to small doors in the walls.
