This section is pretty small, but still very cool. It is
probably the hardest section of tunnel to enter, you have to either pop a
manhole cover (in full view of several Corps of Cadets dorms) or enter through
the power plant (also a poor idea). The upper quad
tunnels are too winding and strange for me to really be able to describe.
Seriously, it seems like every fifty feet there's another turn, fork, or
drop-off in the tunnel. Very cool. Unfortunately, most of the tunnel is too
short to stand upright in, and walking while crouched over gets old after a
while.
There are a few interesting features down there though. At
one point, the tunnel dead-ends at a locked door into the crawlspace of Shultz.
The crawlspace looks pretty cool, it'd be fun to explore if there was only a way
in. Before this, the tunnel gets very hot, and there is an incredibly rusty
ladder down to a lower tunnel. I've heard other explorers refer to this spot as
the 'pit of hell', due to the incredible heat. The lower tunnel is full of
escaped steam, I attempted to crawl through it but quickly turned back as the
temperature became unbearable.
The tunnel ends at a door into the portion of the power
plant located beneath the Art Design and Learning Center. I wouldn't ever use
this as an exit, because the power plant is staffed 24 hours a day.
